I Love God and I’m Gay.

PUBLISHED: April 4, 2023
Jenny, co-pastor of a progressive Christian Church in Denver,  talks frankly about her journey to reconcile her love of God, her lifelong devotion to ministry, and her identifying as being gay.

She says, “I feel God’s blessing on me as a gay person. This is what God wanted. This is not a mistake that we have to fix.”

As a secularist I do not hold the same beliefs as Pastor Jenny. However, I believe that she is one of the most genuine believers I have ever encountered. She is courageous in the face of evangelical criticism and her story is worth telling.

We’ll be looking at the Reform Presbyterian Church’s stance on excluding members of the LGBTQ community. Dr. Joseph Pipa Jr. condemns homosexuality and says that members of the LGBTQ community are definitely not welcome in his denomination.

We’ll explore the (faulty) reasoning behind his stance.

Answering the Music Man

A gaggle of theists attempt to discredit renown atheist Dan Barker. One would think that the easiest way to discredit an Atheist is to prove the existence of God. But that’s not what they do. Instead, they question his definition of words.
We’ll see how that works for them.

Atheism New and Old

Are Faith and Reason Compatible?
B. Kyle Keltz

The Bible tells us that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
In this blog we’re exploring Keltz’s attempt to convince us that simply having “faith” in God is evidence enough to assume that God actually exists.

How Christians Define Faith
A critique of Keltz’s
definition of faith

According to Keltz, Barker’s definition of faith is not how christian theologians understand faith. Which begs the obvious question. How do christians define faith?

Evangelical Vs Progressive Christianity

 What do they actually believe?

One would think that Christian churches would have almost the same doctrines. But that’s not what we found when we compared an evangelical mission statement with the beliefs of a progressive congregation. The differences are striking and reveal a conflicting view of the very nature of God. This will be a nine-part series looking at and comparing different elements of each congregation’s mission statement.
